| The beginning
of a new week and the roof structure is on the agenda.
Now that the beams are in place and the interior framing
is finished, the roof is ready to go up. This crew opted
to set the roof panels by hand instead of using a crane.
Don't try this at home! |

| They
call him Tiny (above left), and for good reason. With
the strength of 2 men, Tiny is the guy on the bottom
who carries the most weight. It looks like he's carrying
a roof panel single handedly, but there's someone else
behind him.
On the photo (above right) they are muscling the first
living room roof panel into place. Tiny is in the yellow.
The panels next in line are waiting on the left.

These (above) were actually the first roof panels
set. They did these on Friday along with all the interior
framing. These guys hustle!

Above left is the bedroom wing once the roof is on.
Boards nailed to the roof are to help the crew walk
around and will be removed when the structure is closed
in. The garage slab, newly poured, is covered with
plastic and OSB to keep it from being damaged by work
boots and tools.
On the right (above) you can see the overframing that's
done to connect the panel sections. Panels will entirely
cover the roof, but in areas where roofs of different
pitches join, overframing connects them and creates
good water drainage.

Two more views of our new little house
from the drive and the road. On the bottom photo you
can see posts being set for the east porch. The west
porch is also being worked on.
The bottom photo gives a good view of the post supporting
the ridge beam in the living room (center of photo)
This is how the roof load is carried down to the footings.
