While the electricians complete their "rough-in"
work, the roofers have installed most of the corrugated
steel roof (left). This type of roof is common in Northern
New Mexico and is a lifetime roof. It is similar to
Pro Panel but is corrugated instead of standing seam.
Photovoltaic panels will be installed on the garage
roof (far left) which will produce electricity from
sunlight.

This view of the kitchen shows the electrical and plumbing
rough-ins. Radiant floor heat tubing is on the floor.
The tubing (normally) doesn't run under the cabinets
or in closets. The blue + yellow wires in the middle
of the floor will be electricity for the island. The
kitchen sink is located in the corner by the 2 windows.
2x2 furring strips are nailed to the inside of the panels
so that wiring can be stapled directly to the panels
and the finish wall (in our case, drywall and plaster)
is applied to the furring strips.

There will be a TV + stereo cabinet in the corner of
the living room. Steven has framed the walls that will
be on either side of this cabinet. (center of photo)
Under the south windows (left in photo) is a small window
seat with bookshelves below.

Here, Jon and Steven position our feature post. Purely
decorative, this interesting log was selected because
of the interesting texture worms have made in the wood.
Steven cut the log to the same angle of the ceiling.
Beams will be notched into the log above to define the
entry.

The electricians Peter and Jesus from Our Guiding Light,
were especially neat in their work and were great about
cleaning up after themselves. They checked in with us
often and made sure our electrical preferences were
understood. These 2 photos (left + below) are examples
of an organized job. |

In the garage, the electrical "home runs"
on right of photo on right come from the house up and
across the garage trusses to the circuit box (above
photo).
Plumbing for the mechanical closet is on the left of
this photo. A+S Plumbing did our plumbing work and were
conscientious and accommodating.

A view from the living room into one of our 2 offices.
We are leaving the office open to the living room,
but a wall could be added to turn the office into
a bedroom.
The white board on the wall is used for messages and
our current To Do list.

This is where we will meet with future clients; in
Jon's office. Vaulted ceilings and north and south windows
make this small room feel bigger. A sleeping loft above
the closet and adjoining bathroom expands options for
accommodating guests. |
