Dirt is moved to the porch, patio and door stoops, wet and tamped to prepare for the concrete pad to be poured. This is done in layers, wetting and tamping each layer of dirt to reduce cracking of the concrete. Andy is using the tamper to compress the dirt. This machine doesn't look very big but it delivers quite a punch and needs to be controlled so it doesn't take off down the arroyo.

Footings were dug around the perimeter of each porch, patio and stoop and wooden forms were set up for the concrete. Wire mesh is cut, bent and laid on the dirt to strengthen the concrete on the top surface.

Here is a close up of the radiant tubing in the workshop. It is a tough, plastic coated metal tubing.
The workshop is zoned separately so it can be heated without heating the garage as well.

We put radiant heat in the garage so it can be converted into living space more easily which will improve resale value.

The wall and roof panels have arrived from the Murus Company in Pennsylvania. They are stacked in order and tarped on the truck to keep them dry during transport. One truck can hold wall and roof panels for a small to mid sized house.
A fork lift unloads the panels from the truck. The driveway is too narrow for the panel truck to navigate easily, so the fork lift took them to the building site from the road. Each bundle of panels is covered in plastic to keep them dry until we need them. They are all stacked and numbered to make panel erection easier.

We had the fork lift place the panel bundles around the perimeter of the building pad as close as possible to where they will be needed. This makes it easier later on when the structure is being erected.
