Back

North is up on the plan. Our entry is from the west covered porch. Another covered porch with patio beyond is to the east; just outside the dining room. Our living room, dining room and kitchen are visually very open. (The dashed lines between the rooms are actually beams above.) We are using the other 2 bedrooms as our offices. Future owners can add a wall to separate the bedroom from the living room. Each of our offices has a loft above (dashed lines in the shape of an X). Margie's office (off the living room) is a combo pantry storage, desk space and sewing room. Jon's office (near the garage) is a combo office and conference room where he will hold meetings. The kitchen is simple but functional with a round, maple topped island that will be used for food prep and casual meals. Windows by the corner sink will have great east mountain views. The master bedroom has cheery east light and no wasted space (!) and an adjoining bath has room for a stacked washer dryer. There will be a clothes line outside to the east where the clothes will usually be dried. We are minimizing and simplifying by having a single sink in each bathroom and a tub/shower combination. The workshop will be shared for larger, messier projects and the storage loft above the garage will have skylights for natural lighting. There are also skylights in the bedroom lofts, the entry and the kitchen for light and ventilation. Scroll down to see the outside view!

This view is looking from the road which is to the south. It matches up with the floor plan above. The garage is on the left with 3 south windows into the workshop, followed by the entry door into Jon's office which also has south windows. The living room and dining room are on the right. You can see the chimney for the wood stove in the southwest corner of the living room. The east and west covered porches will extend the living space nine months of the year. There will be a low courtyard wall around the front of the home which will also be our scour wall to buffer us from the flood zone.
